Evie Ray is 7 Months Old

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Evie Ray is 7 months old! Girl is growing like a week. I am going to guess we are over 20 pounds at this point and probably inching our way to 28 inches tall.  She is still a bundle of energy and constantly on the "go."

Although she is not crawling, she is pretty mobile with the rolling. She can roll to get to whatever she wants. You can tell when she is frustrated because she grunts and then off she rolls.

She is eating three meals of "solids" a day. If you can call pureed food solids.... She has not met a food she hates as of yet, but girl does not like any texture. She wants all liquid no lumps! So, if anyone has any ideas on how to get her to like a little texture let me know.

Evie currently loves her Sophie giraffe (thanks Aunt Pinky)  her light up musical turtle, soft books she can read eat, and Sophie (our dog).  Evie is quite the talker. She just babbles, squeals and screams her little heart out.

This big event this month was getting her DocBand off! No more flat spot! She is still a great sleeper and goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 every night and wakes up between 5:20 and 6 am. However, she is content to just babble away at herself until Daddy comes to get her up and ready for the day.

She likes to sit in high chairs when we go out to dinner and is content to play with a spoon while we eat.

She discovered she can "see" herself in the phone.

We love her to pieces and cannot wait to see what this next month will bring. Maybe she will finally crawl and learn to stand up. (girl has no desire to pull up or really stand assisted at this point)

Happy 7 months Peanut!

Monday

Monday, November 9, 2015

It's Monday. I have nothing to show from my weekend, not one single photo. And the Frogs lost... If you need me I'll be here in my office waiting on Tuesday.

It's Almost the Freakin Weekend

Friday, November 6, 2015

It's Friday.... its almost the weekend. I'm not sure whether to be excited or rather unenthused. Either way... let's get down and see the Friday Five

1.  This girl. And her now, much rounder head! We got our DocBand off Tuesday and it's been all giggles in our house because of it.

2. Shopping. I have had a small problem as of late. Now that I do not wear business attire to work, I decided I needed to beef up the casual wardrobe. It's not been kind to the pocketbook, but oh so kind to my closet.  I snapped up these and these boots/booties in the grey tones.  I also got my 15th Stitch Fix and get a couple items. I also hit up the Gap sale and grabbed a pair of these in grey and these in cranberry (excuse me rich-eggplant).  Lastly, I have ordered tons a couple of items from Jess's Pearl & Monroe Boutique.

3. Have you ever found out someone reads your blog who you never expected to read it and they don't know you know they read it, but now when you see them you feel awkward? Totally happened to me.  But totally flattered.

4. Buy my House! Seriously, for those of you who have been around and knew what it looked like when I bought it, or watched me practically redo the whole thing post leak... Check it out now!

5. Marriage. And Marriage after babies. How do you do it? How do you keep the spark? How do you not forget what it was like to just be in love.

6. And I know I promised a post on body after baby... Its in the works.. its been a long week around here!

Happy Weekend y'all!

First World Problems

Thursday, November 5, 2015

But seriously, we all have those things that seem so annoying at the time and in hindsight we realize how ridiculous they sound. So here are a few of my First World Problems....

  • My firm ordered me a new chair, its expensive and snazzy and us supposed to be ergonomically the best... I hate it. It's uncomfortable, I squirm all day long, and would rather have the old school one I has before.
  • I arrived at Starbucks this morning (insert eyeroll here) only to find out that even though there was indeed a pumpkin scone in the case, they did not have any pumpkin scones.... cranberry orange is just not the same.
  • Blacklist came back on and no one told me. Now 4 episodes behind.
  • We ran out of Coke Zero at work.
  • We own three houses at the moment...
  • I bought the toothpaste my husband requested, he tried it, did not like it, requested new toothpaste, so now we use two different kinds.
  • In another coffee-related problem, 7-11 changed the nonfat mocha chiller to pumpkin spice, but did not change the sign... waste of $2.
What are some of your first world problems?

Hump Day

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

I know, a little late to the posting party, but I have a good excuse or 2.

1. Evie got her DocBand off yesterday! Praise sweet baby Jesus.

2. I got her 6 month photos back and well, I cannot pick just a few....

When did she grow up?

3. My sister in law was in town yesterday, so she popped over to spend the night!  Was so much fun to go out to eat on a Tuesday and chat about stuff.

4. Making Holiday plans. When you have an infant and grandparents live in Florida.... don't get me started on the amount of prep this take.

Happy Wednesday all!

I Should Care More

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

After I got all dolled up for Saturday night....

I decided I should probably care more about how I go out in public. Or maybe I shouldn't. I admit, after having E, my beauty routine has gone way down hill. Perhaps its the fact that I also do not have to dress up for work everyday that makes applying more than concealer and some mascara seem like overdoing it.

However, I decided I should take better care of my skin if I'm going to be going practically naked around town. So, I took a little trip to Sephora on Sunday (sans baby) and OMG. I admit I spent a tad more than I planned, but hey, I have the same eyeliners and eyeshadows that I did when I started practicing law, so I deserve it.

I am a fan of Makeup Forever. I use their foundation and powder. I have also used their concealer and mascara and like it. But, I went back to a tried and true concealer. NARS. I know, I just can't stop it. It glides on and just covers it all.  I also picked up some new contouring and highlighting sticks so I could attempt to lessen the effect of my ski-jump nose. I also love this blush.

I also decided to do a better job of my actual skin care. I have lovely post-partum acne. So I opted for Murad.  I love this product because it fights the acne, but also is good for my 30-something skin. And I picked up another one my favs for fighting that I tanned way too much in my 20's skin. This has been one of my go-tos since about eh 29.

I know I won't always go out of the house wit my full on face, but at least the face you see may not look as scary. I admit as I have gotten older I am much more a fan of a natural looking skin, so if I'm going to flaunt it, I at least want it to be as flawless as possible (ok of not any worse than it already is.) So if you see me with a big red zit, I say, oh well! I earned that zit, as I hold up my 20 pound baby girl who squeals with delight!

What are your go-to skin products?

And Its November

Monday, November 2, 2015

Well everyone, its November! Our weekend was a blast!

Friday Evie had the Halloween Parade at school. Here she is pre-parade.

She was on cute unicorn!

Friday night was trick-or-treating on our neighborhood. We just handed out candy and E was out by 7pm!

Saturday we headed to Little Gym and then relaxed at home. E was pretty tired all day and napped well.

At about 3pm the magic began. J and I attended Steeplechase Ball Saturday night. It's basically a debutante ball for the young women coming out into society. So, I got all jazzed up.

And then got all dresses up.

Doesn't he clean up well? And yes, I went with the purple! It was so comfortable. I mean the only gown I have worn were I did not require special undergarments! Win!

We danced, we ate, we saw M.... (I think he was more surprised to see me than I him. We just moved to another room).

We were home by midnight! Out little pumpkin hung out with Uncle Michael and had a blast!

My brother's dog Copper loves some baby E!

Sunday we snuggled in our pj's and tried to stay awake until the new 7pm.... She did pretty well. She was up at 4:15, but I just put her paci back in and she was back asleep til about 5:30. Hoping this works and we do not have a daylight savings sleep fiasco!

Prayers for this morning as my brother has (hopefully) his custody hearing. Here's hoping the judge shows up and all goes well.
