Oh Baby

Thursday, February 12, 2015

30 1/2 weeks. Yup, I am 30 1/2 weeks preggo with what feels like a huge boulder.

This dress does nothing for my figure, but its warm, stretchy and something other than my normal pants and shirt combo. Its also not maternity, so I'll go ahead and say its a win.

The rest of life is just not a win as of late. Like no matter what time I leave work on a Wednesday, traffic is bad. Or, that no matter what my health insurance always has a problem and I end up on the phone for hours with the doctor and insurance company. Or my legs hurt so bad I just want to cut them off. And now.... my feet and ankles are swollen. Yes ladies, its the Third Trimester Blues.

But, not all is bad. I have booked maternity and newborn pics for my sweet baby. Pottery Barn had a one day sale and I snagged this cute rocker for 50% off.

J and I are doing Valentine's Day dinner tonight at one of my favorite places in Fort Worth, since the BOFF will be in town this weekend for my shower. Now, if I can only get home in time for said dinner.

I will also give a big shout out to God today for giving me a beautiful sunrise outside my office window to greet me despite the cold temperatures.

Me as of Late

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

I thought I would take a moment to update you all on me lately

Lately I have....

  • forgone the gym for sleep
  • eaten a subway sandwich for lunch 3 out of 5 days a week
  • indulged in Thin Mints
  • found myself losing hours during the day organizing
  • fantasizing about moving into a house with a yard
  • thinking being a SAHM doesn't sound bad
  • contemplating how I will ever get back to working out with an infant and an hour long commute
  • feeling less motivated to blog
  • feeling blah about how I look
  • had extra cuddly puppies
  • been plagued with allergies
  • wanted to just play hookie so I can get all the things done that need done around our house
  • going to bed at 9pm
  • enjoying a bath twice a week
And that is me in a nutshell lately.

One Day At a Time

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Yup, its my constant mantra these days. One little day at a time. I have been so stressed and overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done as of  late that I have forgotten to take time to well, breathe.

Yesterday we had a slight work emergency to deal with and I had a 2:30 doctor appointment. Well, I arrived around 2:45, but things went swimmingly. My placenta has moved into place so that I can avoid a c-section and well baby girl is looking good. We saw 2 feet, 2 arms, little toes, kidneys and her sweet profile.

It's such a blessing and relief to see her little heart beat and her movements.

After my appointment, J and I headed home at a decent hour for once. We grabbed an early dinner/late lunch at Jason's Deli and just enjoyed ourselves. The sun was shining and we were both home before it set.

We did have a small carseat incident when we got home. See, we went to a cpr car seat safety class Sunday and J was so proud of reading his car manual so we decided we would tackle that last night. You would think and engineer and a lawyer could install a carseat... yeah right. It took us 20 minutes, one argument and two youtube videos just to figure out how to release the Latch from the base. Let's just say the carseat is still in our downstairs bedroom.

Since we have both been working a lot and under a lot of stress, we hit up the bed early. And so did Chloe.... She has decided the glider was put in our bedroom just for her.

She rocked herself to sleep quite nicely last night.

Well, I know its not much, but I feel so much more refreshed today after a nice evening with my husband no awful traffic to get home in. Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday.

Fast & Hard

Monday, February 9, 2015

So this weekend flew by and was done in an instant and I need more. This third trimester is kinda killing me. I am so tired, I have legs cramps and an awful case of restless leg syndrome. Just makes getting comfortable or doing pretty much anything difficult these days.

I have no pics of anything exciting since I just don't remember or do much of anything these days. We did attend a couples' baby shower for a friend of mine and it was good to see everyone and got me excited for my shower this weekend.

We saw American Sniper, albeit I was fidgety and uncomfortable the whole time. Sunday we just went non stop all day. From church, to errands to baby cpr class (the key, fast and hard thrusts) and moving furniture. Needless to see we are both exhausted. Both J and I have been putting in over 60 hours at work and its getting to both of us. He is tired, I am tired. We need a break and there is none in sight.

I have my 30 week sono today to ensure my lovely low-lying placenta has moved, so it will be nice to see Evie since the last time we "saw" her was at 16 weeks. Other than that, its the grind for 10 more weeks.

Friday, Friday Gotta Get Down...

Friday, February 6, 2015

It's that lovely day of Friday again! Linking up with the lovelies above and celebrating the near 80's we will be having tomorrow.

So, let's get to it.

1. I am over pregnancy. Yup, I waddle, hate the two pair of jeans I own and detest preggo tights, but need them in the cold weather. I also hate that walking hurts and makes me feel like she will just fall out at any moment. Rant over.

2. Rodeo! Yes, I am a Texas girl. The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has been going on for the past two weeks and we finally went. Box seats and all! Nothing says Texas and Fort Worth like the rodeo! I love the smell of the arena, the beauty of the horses and the manliness of the bull riders. The food is greasy and good, and well its just something you have to do.

3. I am a tad obsessed with checking our registry. Something about logging on and seeing someone loves us and Evie enough to buy her things just warms my heart.

And that's all folks! I have another stab at a message this weekend and a couples' shower for a friend of mine on Saturday. We are surrounded by babies!

Is This Real?

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Do you watch Homeland? Well we do in our house, or shall I say we are getting caught up on the first 4 seasons. So, last night my husband and I are laying in bed watching episode 11 of season 4. Good episode.

Fast forward, and spoiler alert.... I find myself waking up at 4am to pee, hello pregnant bladder. As I am sitting there half asleep I realize why my brain is going ninety miles an hour. I have been dreaming/analyzing whether or not our client, an insurance company, has a duty to defend an action for the invasion that takes place of the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Yup, people this is real life in my mind.

And the worst part, I went back to bed fully aware that this was a dream and it kept me up because I just had to figure this one out.

I clearly need two things: sleep and a break from work lol.

In other baby news.... I am 29 weeks, tired as all get out, but hanging in there.

Here We Go Again

Monday, February 2, 2015

Another week is underway. Its sunny and pretty outside, but don't let it fool you, its 29 degrees! Brrrr... guess Phil saw his shadow this morning as well, so buckle up everyone for 6 more weeks of winter.

I wish I could report an awesome weekend, but again I failed at blogger 101 of taking pictures and my weekends have been less than stellar and exciting.

J and I headed to dinner Friday night at a local spot downtown that caters to the craft beer fan that is my husband. He wolfed down a reuben the size of my head while I partook in the most divine chopped salad this little preggo has every devoured. We topped it off with a sundae and headed home for an episode of Homeland.

Saturday I was excited for my pre-natal massage. Massage fail. I would call it more of a glorified rubbing of lotion on my body for maybe 42 minutes. Needless to say I had a meltdown in the lobby of the place and now have a free 1 1/2 massage scheduled for next Saturday. My body was so looking for to this and I left even more tense and stressed out than I did when I came in. I took it out on the gym and called it a day.

Saturday night we had some pizza and hung out with J's guy friends for a little while. I left at about 9:20 pm and headed home to sleep with my pups. Yet sleep evaded me. My allergies have been in full swing and I just could not sleep.

Sunday morning I awoke to benadryl and probably about 16 hours of sleep. I just felt like a train hit my head on and parked itself inside my nasal cavity.

We did get some baby room stuff done. J put together Evie's dresser/changing table, while big sister Chloe watched and mama passed in and out of consciousnesses.

We celebrated the Super Bowl with dinner with my godparents and aunt. My godfather's take away from the Super Bowl: he does not like dreadlocks.

And that my friends was my weekend. I got to work early this morning to a mess on my desk after a new bookshelf was delivered and I had to wade through the piles. Its all organized, and although the walls look like they may cave in on me, I have more room to keep things in order!

Happy first weekend of February!
