It's Halloween! It's perhaps my favorite holiday! And since I do not have a tiny little one to dress up, I give you my fur babies---or should I say my ladybug and my flower child. Here's to a great evening of trick, treats, and fun!
Just Breathe
Thursday, October 30, 2014
Have you ever noticed that we are constantly in a rush? We go from here to there and often run, rush, and hurry through our days to get to the next? Its one constant race in life to move from task to task and constant complaining of a lack of time.
I find myself counting hours to ensure I can get t hings done and pushing things to the wee hours of the morning and night so that I can get it all done. And for what? There is no prize, no reward, no golden calf at the end of the race. Its self- imposed. Its the sense of the world to just rush rush rush.
So today I am going to just breathe. The world will not end, I will not self destruct and no one will get hurt if everything does not happen. Instead I will enjoy the sunrise outside my window, the conversation of co workers and the joy of life.

Weeks: 215

Trimester: Second
Gender: Don't know yet.
Name: Not yet.
Baby's Size: According to The Bump app: baby is the size of a naval orange.

Baby's Size: According to The Bump app: baby is the size of a naval orange.
Cravings: I could eat salad and fruit all day long, especially cucumbers. I literally devoured an entire cucumber for dinner last night. I just hate that fruit is not really in season right now.
How I'm Feeling: Good. I have been blessed with no morning sickness! I am doing well, still working out 3-4 times a week and lifting, less weight, but still going. Still working a ton and loving it! However, when I get home, I am flat-out ready for bed!
Movement: None yet.
Momma thoughts: I have not had time to think any momma thoughts. Between planning a wedding and work, and the constant occasional worry that something is wrong with baby, I have just forgotten at times I am going to be one!

Weekend Happenings
Monday, October 27, 2014
Hello BIG TCU win! I mean big, like 82 points big. I mean I know I have a degree from that other university, but my heart will always bleed purple.
As far as the rest of the weekend? It was pretty low key and spent napping. I have just been so wiped out as of late and just wanting to catch up on sleep.
I did manage church on Sunday morning and a wonderful evening spent with a couple from our city group of marriage prep/counseling/good conversation. The husband is going to marry us, and we are so excited to have such a good relationship with the two of them.
Sorry no pictures, or other interesting news. Just one of those plain 'ole weekends. Here's to the last week of October and perhaps Fall will arrive!

Confessional Friday
Friday, October 24, 2014
It's Friday!! The sun is shining (well at least here), its set to be 90 degrees tomorrow for some Frog football and well I get to carve pumpkins tonight. So, now let's get to a little confess sesh.
- I confess I could eat all the fruit in the world right now. Yes, all of it. Baby just wants something sweet and fruity.
- I confess I now have to go unpack my shorts from the closet for tomorrow's game since someone decided its not quite fall here yet.
- I confess sometimes I get total preggo worry and think something has happened to le baby and cry. Yup, just total freak out cry session.
- I confess sometimes I get so caught up in work I look up and I realize its past lunch, which tells me I like what I'm doing or I would be ticking away the minutes to food.
- I confess I am getting antsy about finding out what gender le baby is. I mean I just want to get a name picked out and buy something cute.
- I confess I did not watch How to Get Away With Murder last night because I opted for sleep instead. I did DVR it.
- I confess I want to hack all my hair off, but am waiting til post nuptials.
Have a fab weekend ya'll!

Thoughts on a Thursday: F-Bombs for Feminism
Thursday, October 23, 2014
I listen to the same morning radio program everyday. I have actually listened to it since I was in elementary school. Its often just the thing that gets me from work to home. But today, they discussed a new public-service video that has come out regarding the unequal treatment of women in the workplace.
http://vimeo.com/109731596
Here is the link to the video. Be aware, the video contains the F word being used by little girls.
The point of the video is to educate adults regarding the inequality of women in the workplace. But, what does it actually say to you? Can you get past the excessive use of the F-bomb by little girls and hear the message? Do you think the message could have been just as easily spread without the use of the word?
The morning show I listened to had strong opinions because of the word usage. They discussed whether they would let their children see it. Well, no. Its not for kids people. Its meant for adults, to shock the adult conscience. I would not let my child watch the video, but I as an adult woman who has experienced unequal treatment in the workplace get it. The one fact that struck with me was that women who make all A's in college are paid the same amount as men who made C's. I experienced this firsthand. It makes me angry,
I am not sure how I feel about the video in general. I love the message and think its one that needs to be spread, but I am not sure this is the right way to do it. I applaud the makers for speaking up and out. I can, however, see the concern by others for the way the message is dealt with in this video. Do I think its male-bashing? No. Do I think its extreme-feminism? No.
I think its one take on an issue that has plagued women since the dawn of time, What do you think?

Weekend Review
Monday, October 20, 2014
Hello again Monday. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend because I did.
Saturday I was up early to get some much needed errands run, like oil change for the car, car wash, folding laundry, ya know the little things. Le guy had a ton of things to do as well. I also managed a nice little 2 milerun jog.
At about 12:30 we headed up to tailgate for an epic TCU/OSU match up. The weather was perfect! The team was on! And it was a big Frog win!! We are now the highest ranked team in Texas, thank you West Virginia for beating Baylor!
After the game someone had a hankering for Mexican (not me) so we headed to Mi Cocina and chowed down. Pretty sure I was in bed by 9:30.
Sunday le fiance had to work, so i headed to church and grocery shopping. I had not been to church in a while due to my schedule and working, so it was wonderful to see everyone and get the week started off right.
Sunday afternoon, we headed to one of my good friend's gender reveal. Bow-tie or Bow? Well, they will be having a precious baby boy! (which has mean convinced I'll be sprouting a baby girl). But we have more time to figure that out.
Sunday evening was coupled with a nice cowboy's win and me in bed asleep by 9:15. As someone said to me, its tough work growing a baby.

Widespread Panic
Thursday, October 16, 2014
Today I need to rant. On Ebola. Yes, I live in the DFW area. Yes, I work in Dallas. Yes, two people who worked at a hospital where one man died from Ebola are now sick. No, I am not panicking!
Let's examine this people. One man has died from Ebola in the US. We are not in a third-world country where risk of total outbreak is inherent. I agree there should have been no risk of contamination to any of the health professionals who treated Mr. Duncan, but these are the people who had the closest risk and they are the ones infected. Think about it. None of his family members are infected, none of the other people who were at the hospital the days he was there are infected. No, its the nurses who were close to Mr. Duncan who were infected. Let's stop panicking, blaming and freaking out in general.
Let's stop blaming the hospital who took in the man and treated him. They had never seen Ebola how would they know what to look for or how to treat him? How would they know the proper protocol when they had never dealt with this before. Yes, there were oversights and risks, but these people put their lives in jeopardy to treat another human being.
Ebola in the US is contained and under control. Should the second nurse been able to fly? Probably not, but the thing is, we have the ability in the US to locate and isolate those who had possible contact with the patient.
Let's stop panicking and think like rational people. And let's stop sensationalizing this. Let's stop the widespread panic.

Hump Day, Bump Day
Wednesday, October 15, 2014
I know, I know, its Hump Day/Bump Day. I however, have no new bump day things to report. And.. I am a bad blogger and have not taken a single bump pic ( I am in denial and still trying to hide it....).
What I can report is....
I am 13 weeks.
Baby is the size of a peach.
I crave french fries, salad and fruit.
I have no symptoms (aka no morning sickness)
My energy is slowly coming back.
I am still working out 4 days a week, but have cut down the running.
Baby is a... we do not know yet.
Not much, and no pics... but hey I am alive!

32 is My Year
Monday, October 13, 2014
32 yeas ago today I graced the earth with my presence. And 32, well its destined to be my hear. Wedding, baby, new job... ya know just a few cool things.
But first, let's recap the weekend. It was epic. Friday night we joined some friends to celebrate another birthday. It was also the first time we have seen all of le guy's friends since we made the big #babywinter announcement. It was exciting and fun. I, of course, headed out early while le guy stayed out and enjoyed guy time.
Saturday was a little bit lazy, some work, and Neely's wedding!!!! Ya'll, I had to break down and buy some preggo pants. Not maternity, but just some pants and dresses to wear to work. It was so sad so see a number I have not worn since circa 2006. But again, as le guy keeps telling me, you preggo... so alas I am comfy and cozy in some new digs. Oh, and did I mention the sale Banana had? 40% off? Add in my points rewards I had been hoarding and some gift cards and I spent a mere $96 on a lot of loot.
Then we headed off to Dallas to see Miss Neely get married. Ya'll, she was gorgeous. The scene was gorgeous and well it was just wonderful. I am so glad I got be a part of her special day and also see some of my bloggy friends. Bloggers just have more fun.
Sunday, we both worked in the morning and then headed to a wonderful event called Tacos & Taps, as part of the Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival. It was tacos galore and brews for the man. I can now say though, there is such a thing as too many tacos.
We ended the night with my bday present.... he is so good....
Yup, I was going to get it for myself as a new job present, but then between wedding and baby, I did not. He knows the way to my heart!
So, happy Monday ya'll!

Thankful Thursday
Thursday, October 9, 2014
I wish I could say its a fabulous fall day here in Texas, but alas, its going to be in the 90's again.... oh how I long for fall. Ya know, boots, tights, the urge not to wear flip flops and shorts to walk the dog. I know I shouldn't complain, but I just want to break out the fall wardrobe as the summer one has run its course.
But today, I am talking thanks. Yup, I have so much to be thankful for right now, and sometimes I get bogged down in the details and tiredness and forget how great things are.
I am thankful for the little nugget growing in my tummy.
I am thankful for the man who loves me unconditionally.
I am thankful for a loving Savior who grants me grace.
I am thankful for a job that allows me to grow and be challenged.
I am thankful for the multitude of people who are loving and supportive of me in all walks of life.
I am thankful I can get up each day and drive myself to work.
I am thankful for the furry babies who are always excited to see me when I get home.
I am thankful for life.

O Who?
Monday, October 6, 2014
One proud Horned Frog Alumna here. Hello, what a game! If you missed it, or picked OU to win.... shame on you! The game was awesome, the atmosphere electric, and the football, well it was just good. Its the kind of game you want to see in Big 12 play. Action on action on action.
In other news... Friday we had the tasting for our reception... yummy... I mean besides cake tasting its the best part, right?
We followed that up with my first taste of fall! Pumpkin ice cream spiced with coffee. Its still 90 degrees here in Texas, but I can pretend its fall.
And my always trusty assistant Sophie.
How was your weekend?

Return to Your Normal Routine
Wednesday, October 1, 2014
So I made it to Philly last night and have a wonderful dinner with some lawyers from our office here. I mean, scallops, chocolate sorbet, bread.... what is better? So, I finally snuggled into my comfy Ritz bed at er past 11. I was sound asleep in dreamland until 3:30 am. That is when the alarm went off.
No, not my alarm, the one from the hotel letting me know there was an emergency. It was the most awful, loud obtrusive alarm of my life. And it just kept repeating itself over and over again. So, I met my colleague in the stairwell, clad in pjs, no shoes, cell phone in hand. We made it down about 9 flights when we were informed it was ok, that a guest was smoking in his room. WTH? I wanted to find the man and murder him. Who does this? Twice no less, we found out!
So back up the stairs and into bed. Only to be awoken at 5:45 by another alarm. Yes, you heard me. Though this time, the staff of the hotel came over the speaker and told us it was false, it continued for 30 minutes! 30 minutes of someone telling me to return to my normal activities. I dunno, normal? 6am? sleep?
Needless to say, the am came way too early. Happy Hump Day to you all!
