Life is full of compromises. We compromise every day. From little things like if I eat this, then I will workout more or I can work longer today to avoid working this weekend. I confess my life lately has been full of compromise.
I compromised working 2 minutes from home for a better career opportunity. I gave up easy, I know I can handle this work, for assignments that challenge me and force me to think critically. Gone is phone it in Friday, for the down to the minute edits to ensure a filing is perfect. Yes, I let the I can stay at this firm forever and not get fired and exert very little effort, job, for the fast-paced, use your brain and education I'm gifted with, career.
I confess I made a huge decision to jump out of my comfort zone and prove to myself that I can make it. Yes, there are days I think it would be so much easier to trot down the street, but then I get an email saying good job, or nice work, and I remember why I made this move. I choose busy over boredom, challenge over comfort, and opportunity. This is why I am a lawyer.
Moustaches & Marriage
Monday, September 29, 2014
Well, it's Monday again. Which means another action packed week at work.... oh wait, not the whole week... I am heading up north to Philly on Tuesday to attend an awesome work-sponsored event featuring the women who is the inspiration for the show Scandal. To say I am excited is an understatement. I am elated, on cloud 9!
But back to my weekend. The fiancé and I attended a wonderful marriage conference hosted by our church and a few others in town. The conference featured Dr. Paul Tripp. This man was quite the trip... haha, see what I did there?
But honestly, it was a pleasure and honor to be in a room with 1200 people learning about a Christ-centered marriage. Dr. Tripp was funny, raw, and honest. I would recommend any of his books or seminars. We both left feeling better equipped for the next eternity together.
Saturday night we headed to a friend's house for a little impromptu cookout. It was three couples, some babies, some fur children, burgers and just a good ole time. Its wonderful to have such loving, supportive friends who truly care about you. I know I have said this a million times, but I am one blessed lady.
Sunday was a little napping, a little working and a little home decor shopping. And by napping I mean these two.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. And don't forget to come back tomorrow for our second Monthly Motivation link-up! Share your successes, new workout plans, or whatever you want!

I see you have found me again. So welcome to this new page of the interwebs. In case you're new, let me introduce myself.
I'm a 30 something lawyer, who is recently engaged. Oh did I mention that I also changed jobs in the last er month and half, got engaged, am planning and wedding for December and have just a few other things on my plate? Yeah no biggie.
Let's see, what else.... I have two pups whom I love to death and being a fur-mom is the absolute best! I am engaged to le fiance.... an aerospace engineer from Ohio, who became a southern transplant about 13 years ago. He is the best. But I know some of you are dying to hear the story....
So, last Friday I got a text from him saying he wanted to cook dinner. Well I was elated since I work 33 miles from home and commute between 50-70 minutes everyday. When I arrived home, he was cooking up a storm of scallops and risotto! There was s yummy salad full of all my favorite veggies. I was in heaven. After the meal he pulled out two pieces of the most divine chocolate fudge cake. I was stuffed and in heaven again. Then he said there was one more course. Yeah this is where I became excited. Yup, I was so antsy for what I thought was going to be the cheese course!
Well, I mean we had been in Napa the week before and I engorged myself on cheese. Nope, no cheese for me, it was the down on one knee, saying the sweetest words ever, ring in hand course! Did I mention it was complete with the two pups flanking each side of him? Clearly I said yes...
